A range is best heard as a sweep rather than a single tone. These open the main tool:
How to use these test tones
- Test a subwoofer or speaker: play a low tone (20-100 Hz) and listen for clean, distortion-free bass — many small speakers roll off below 100 Hz.
- Check your hearing range: work up through the high tones (8,000 Hz and above). The frequency where a tone disappears is a rough marker of your high-frequency hearing.
- Tune an instrument: use 440 Hz (concert-pitch A) or 432 Hz as a reference and match by ear.
- Calibrate levels: 1,000 Hz is the standard reference tone for lining up meters and equipment.
